Los Angeles Comes up Empty Against Goldberg
The Los Angeles Pobladores manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Seattle Emeralds. The Pobladores were overpowered by Seattle starter Denny Goldberg, who hurled his club to victory, 6-0.

"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Kurt Peterson said.

Over 9 innings, Goldberg blanked Los Angeles on 3 hits with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts.

"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Goldberg said.

"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."

This season, Goldberg has fashioned a 9-9 mark and 3.71 ERA in 169.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .227 against him and he has logged 85 strikeouts.
