The San Diego Captains defeated the Milwaukee Dairymen, 4-3, in National Baseball League action at San Diego Sporting Complex. San Diego pitcher Jeff Ferguson had a standout performance. Ferguson yielded 3 runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 5-7. Brian Meade nailed down his 9th save.

The Captains got a big boost from center fielder Jerry Olsen who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Dairymen hurler Denny Grissinger. It was his 20th walk of the season and put San Diego on top, 1-0.

"I was a little disappointed," said Milwaukee manager Brandon Dudley. "We could've and should've scored more runs."

The last-place Dairymen have lost 4 consecutive games.
