Bulls Capture Close Win
Cleveland got a big-time effort from pitcher Roger Scherf, but it wasn't enough to keep the Kansas City Bulls from winning the game, 5-4. Scherf threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs for the losing team. Dave Fields claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record stands at 4-3. Bob Crosby nailed down his 29th save.

Kansas City used a timely hit from Bob Rawlins to get the win. The third baseman stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bulls ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Kansas City manager DD Martin.

Kansas City has now won 5 straight.
