Explorers Get Clonked by Traders, 5-3
|
The Chicago Traders defeated the St. Louis Explorers, 5-3, in National Baseball League action at Union Field. Chicago pitcher Larry Cox had a standout performance. Cox got the win, improving to 3-0. He gave up 7 hits and walked 5 over 9 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The win brings the Traders to 8-4, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Had Dave Bieler delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Bieler struck out. The score remained 3-2, Chicago, and the Traders were out of the jam.
