Los Angeles Gets 9-5 Win Against Hawks
|
With shortstop John Fine leading the charge, the Los Angeles Pobladores defeated the Chicago Hawks, 9-5, at Hyde Park Stadium. Fine, who is tied for 5th in the ABL in triples with 7, went 2 for 4 with a triple and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Los Angeles starter Dan Turner was credited with the win after throwing 118 pitches over 6.2 innings. His record now stands at 9-8. The win for the Pobladores raised their record to 61-52.
In the top of the second, Los Angeles first baseman Chuck Gunter had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Gunter stroked a 2-run single to right. It made the score 5-0, Los Angeles. For the game, he was 1-4 with a walk. He drove in 3 runs.
"The clubhouse can get insufferable after we lose, so I'm glad we pulled this one out today," Fine told the Los Angeles News.
