Drillers Take Tight Tangle
|
Behind a fine performance from Charlie Fee, the Houston Drillers knocked off the Twin Cities Northmen, 4-3. Fee went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Drillers. The win was credited to 33-year old right-handed pitcher Warner Manning in relief. His record improves to 5-2. Rick Lindstrom took the loss. The victory gives the Drillers a record of 70-45.
Fee had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 2-2 splitter from Rick Lindstrom, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Drillers a 4-3 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for Fee.
"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Fee told the Houston Gazette.
