Atlanta Tacks 6-4 Loss on Boston
|
Atlanta defeated Boston, 6-4, in large part due to 25-year old catcher Ron Bullins. Bullins drove in 4 runs. The catcher had 1 double and 1 home run for the Generals. The winning pitcher was Bill Davis. He's now 9-6. He went 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits for the Generals. Napoleon Russi, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.
With Atlanta trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Bullins hit a sinker from Bruce Shurtleff for a 2-run home run. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Generals ahead, 2-1.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Bullins told the Atlanta Observer.
The 6th-place Generals have a record of 53-61.
