Explorers Get Past Milwaukee, 1-0
|
Milwaukee got a big-time effort from pitcher Andy Campbell, but it wasn't enough to keep the St. Louis Explorers from winning the game, 1-0. Campbell threw 9.0 innings of 8-hit ball for the losing team. Robbie Goolsby picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-2. Andy Campbell, who finished 2nd in the NBL in ERA with 2.32 last year, was tagged with the loss. St. Louis raised its record to 67-50 with the win.
Tom Guinn, who is tied for 5th in the NBL in triples with 8, had a direct impact on the outcome. Guinn contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put St. Louis up, 1-0.
"I was a little disappointed," said Milwaukee manager Brandon Dudley. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
