Empires Roll Over Terriers, 9-1
|
Riding the 4-hit performance of the 23-year old center fielder Roger Hickey, the New York Empires stopped the Boston Terriers, 9-1, in 9 innings. The overall performance of the 1971 Terriers has been rotten so far.
With New York leading 2-1 in the top of the eighth, Hickey hit a fastball from Alex Alonso for a 2-run double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Empires ahead, 4-1.
"I wish every win came this easy," said Hickey.
