Wolverines Win, 3-1, at Toronto
|
Detroit pitcher Len Pates had a large part in his team subduing the Toronto Hurons, 3-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The winner was Pates. He threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Dan Crumm. The loss drops Toronto to 4-8.
Booker Lee, who finished 2nd in the ABL in doubles with 34 in 1966, had a direct impact on the outcome. Lee contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put Detroit up, 3-0.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Detroit manager Alex Wobbema.
