Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Chicago Traders and Philadelphia Quakers.

The Chicago Traders picked up a win at Union Field, courtesy of Larry Cox. The right-hander helped his team stop the Philadelphia Quakers, 2-1. Cox yielded 1 run over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 2-0.

Chicago took a 2-1 lead on Ed White's 3rd double of the season. The 2-run double, which White hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Philadelphia pitcher Bill Smith visibly frustrated.

"Larry's as tough as he is talented," said Chicago manager Larry Link.

The Quakers fall to 5-8 and continue their unimpressive start to the 1974 season.
