Traders Win, Spilling Blockbusters, 6-2
|
At Union Field, the Los Angeles Blockbusters and Chicago Traders were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
Tim Rathbone helped his team muscle past the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 6-2. In the game, the Chicago left fielder was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Larry Cox earned the win, while 34-year old right-handed pitcher Bruce Shone took the loss for Los Angeles.
Chicago catcher Terry Moore contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a knuckle curve to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 28th hit of the season and put the Traders ahead, 2-0.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Chicago manager Larry Link.
The National Baseball League Western Division-leading Traders have a record of 68-49.
