The home crowd had a good time watching the Houston Drillers and Seattle Emeralds get after it.

The Seattle Emeralds racked up a win at Puget Field, bumping off the Houston Drillers, 6-3. Mike Harris, who started for Seattle, pitched effectively for his team. The winner was Harris. He threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Bill Switzer. Carroll Reynolds earned his 11th save in 15 chances.

The Emeralds got a big at-bat from shortstop Roberto Soto. For the game, Soto was 2 for 4 with a triple and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 7th triple of the season gave Seattle a 2-0 lead.

"Mike -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Emeralds manager Mark Velez. "He was the key to us winning."

The 5th-place Emeralds improved to 50-64.
