Empires Blank Generals, Stanford Wins
|
Larry Stanford of the New York Empires toyed with the Atlanta Generals, as he shut them out, 4-0, at Atlantic Station Field. He was almost untouchable, twirling a 3-hitter with 4 strikeouts and no walks.
"I'm sweating now because it's hot in here," Stanford said in the clubhouse after the game. "But it didn't even feel like I was sweating out there."
Thus far this season, Stanford has tossed 175 innings in 22 starts, fanned 91 batters, walked 51 and put up a 2.16 ERA with 12 wins and 7 losses.
