Drillers Land Close Win
The Houston Drillers racked up a win at San Vicente Park, bumping off the Los Angeles Pobladores, 3-2, in 15 innings. Syed Farooqi, who started for Houston, pitched effectively for his team. The win was credited to Adrian Fagnani in relief. His record improves to 4-2. George Conrad took the loss. The Drillers are now 61-55, while the Pobladores fall to 62-55.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Wade Fields? The 25-year old third baseman Fields stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 15th inning to put Houston up, 3-2. For the game, he was 3 for 6, including 1 double and 2 singles.

"Bottom line," said Los Angeles skipper Kurt Peterson, "we didn't play well enough to win."
