Quakers 5-2 Winners Versus Washington
|
Philadelphia Quakers starter Mel Hartman pitched effectively against the Washington Eagles at Quakers Stadium. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 5-2 win. The Quakers raised their record to 48-70.
The Quakers got a big at-bat from center fielder Ted Schlener. For the game, Schlener went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Philadelphia a 2-0 lead.
"We've got great fans," said Hartman. "I hope they got what they came for."
