The New York Empires picked up a win at Seton Hill Stadium, taking down the Baltimore Lords, 4-3. Starting pitcher Jon Pierce was a big reason why. The winner was Pierce. He threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs. The loser was Denny Boyd. Picking up his 4th save was 30-year old right-handed pitcher Tom Duncan.
Danny Barrera contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the third. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single. His at-bat helped New York get the win.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Pierce said.
The victory gives the Empires a record of 66-49.
