Industrials Fall Short, 5-4, at Cleveland
|
In a tight contest at Lakefront Stadium, the Cleveland Bobcats edged the Pittsburgh Industrials by the score of 5-4. Cleveland first baseman Harold Batkin, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Myron Baird, the winner, goes to 12-7. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts over 7.2 innings. Joe Clabaugh earned his 16th save in 25 chances.
Cleveland grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Batkin hit a 2-run home run off Jeff Munoz. His 10th home run of the season put the Bobcats out in front, 3-1.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Batkin.
Cleveland is now 59-57, Pittsburgh 76-41.
