The Los Angeles Pobladores picked up a win at San Vicente Park, taking down the Houston Drillers, 4-3. Starting pitcher Dan Turner was a big reason why. Los Angeles reliever Rick Golia picked up the win, raising his record to 5-4. Bill Switzer was tagged with the loss. Phil Lester got the save, his 12th in 14 chances.

The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Manuel Castillo came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Houston pitcher Bill Switzer, he hit a 1-0 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Los Angeles on top, 4-3.

"What we get, we earn," Castillo told the Los Angeles Times.

The win gives Los Angeles a season record of 60-56.
