Plumley Hits 2 home runs in Wolverines Win
|
Detroit right fielder Jerry Plumley helped his team beat the New York Empires, 5-2. Plumley, who led the ABL in wins above replacement with 7.6 last year, went 2 for 4 for the Wolverines. Scott Litwak, the winner, is now 12-7. He struck out 5 and walked 0 over 6.1 innings, while allowing 1 run on 4 hits. New York, at 67-49, has lost 5 straight.
With Detroit leading 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Plumley hit a changeup from Nate Frampton for a 3-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Wolverines ahead, 5-0.
"Been a rough stretch for us," said New York manager Dan Whiting.
