The Milwaukee Dairymen did just enough to sneak past the San Diego Captains, 4-3, at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium. Milwaukee pitcher Keith Williams, in particular, had a standout performance. The winner was Williams. He threw 8.2 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Mark Pike. Arnie Keilman recorded the save, making him 16 for 18.
Ruben Galvan, who is tied for 7th in the NBL with a .312 batting average, helped out the Milwaukee cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the catcher was 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
"We ground out the win," said Williams. "That's all that matters."
With the victory, the Dairymen upped their record to 61-57.
