Knickerbockers Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
New York Knickerbockers pitcher Dave Torre was in top form, leading his team past the Washington Eagles, 2-1. Ollie Hundley recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 15 for 21. The win for the Knickerbockers lifted their record to 60-58.
Francisco Chavez had a big solo home run for the Knickerbockers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With New York leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a slider from former first round draft pick Alex Fonseca and punished it. The result was his 17th home run of the season, which put the Knickerbockers on top, 2-0.
"Runs were at a premium," said New York manager Timothy Widholm.
