The Cleveland Bobcats topped the Washington Eagles, 4-1, in National Baseball League action at Lakefront Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Cleveland pitcher and Gainesville, Florida, native Myron Baird. The win puts the Bobcats at 63-58, while the Eagles drop to 57-63.
Bill Harper, who finished 5th in the NBL in stolen bases with 37 in 1970, came through for Cleveland with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. The right fielder went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and collected 2 RBI.
