Bobcats Score Late, Stun Quakers, 3-2
|
The Philadelphia Quakers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Bob Freeland into a win. Instead, the Cleveland Bobcats prevailed, 3-2. Freeland threw 8.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Reliever Joe Clabaugh picked up the win. His record improves to 6-11. Darrell Klug, who is tied for 8th in the NBL in saves with 15, took the loss. The loss makes Philadelphia 64-56.
Cleveland got a game-changing hit from John Seidler. The pinch hitter blasted a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a winner.
"It feels good to get this one," Seidler told the Cleveland Herald.
