Milwaukee Defeated by San Diego, 4-3
|
Larry Morford did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Milwaukee Dairymen from being beaten, 4-3, to the San Diego Captains at San Diego Sporting Complex. Morford belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. San Diego reliever Jack DeWitt was the winner. His record is now 5-4. Dan Valenti took the loss. Ed Prater closed the game out for San Diego, earning his 5th save.
San Diego took a 4-3 lead on Tom Row's 1st triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Row hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Milwaukee pitcher Dan Valenti visibly frustrated.
"We take it day by day here," said Row, "and today was a good one for us."
The National Baseball League Western Division-leading Captains are 76-44.
