The Milwaukee Dairymen topped the St. Louis Explorers, 8-3, at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium. Milwaukee left fielder Tug Hollenbeck was a spark plug for the offense. He went 2 for 4 with a triple and a double. He scored 3 times. Danny Guerra earned the save for Milwaukee, his 2nd. Milwaukee is now 44-78, while St. Louis is 58-63.

Had Reggie Bryce not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Bryce hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Dairymen.

"A great game, a great day," said Bryce about the win. "I can't complain."
