Bobcats Lose to Knickerbockers in Walk-Off
|
The New York Knickerbockers got a strong performance from pitcher Tim Fried, who stymied the Cleveland offense en route to a win, 4-1, at Knickerbocker Stadium. New York reliever Ollie Hundley snagged the win, upping his record to 4-3. Joe Clabaugh shouldered the loss. With the win, the Knickerbockers improved to 60-61.
New York got a clutch hit from Bob Underwood. The pinch hitter launched a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Fried said.
