Knickerbockers Stymied by Industrials, Winder
|
The New York Knickerbockers had to reckon with Pittsburgh Industrials hurler Ron Winder. Winder, the 9th overall pick in the 1969 draft, overwhelmed the opposition in the 9-1 Industrials triumph. The first-place Industrials have a one-game lead in their division.
The Industrials liked what they saw from Winder. The 22-year- old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Knickerbockers to 1 run on 5 hits over 8.2 innings, and striking out 4.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Timothy Widholm.
