Captains Rally For Late Win Over Dairymen
Thanks in large part to catcher Earl Peters, the San Diego Captains beat the Milwaukee Dairymen, 6-4. Peters went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI. San Diego reliever John Espersen picked up the win to move to 1-4. Archie Sereni suffered the loss. With the win, the Captains hiked their record to 64-58.

Had Peters not come through in the top of the ninth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Peters hit a 2-run single. The Captains took the lead, 6-4, and never looked back.

San Diego manager Joe Mack commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
