Knickerbockers Drop Packers, 2-1

Kenny Foster pitched well, but the Cincinnati Packers still lost the game, falling, 2-1, to the New York Knickerbockers at Knickerbocker Stadium. Jack Forbes got credit for the win, improving to 10-11. He allowed 1 run on 8 hits in 6.2 innings. Brian Williams notched his 5th save in 14 chances.
New York right fielder Wayne Baker contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a sinker to right-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 47th hit of the season and put the Knickerbockers ahead, 2-1.
"Tough loss," said Cincinnati manager Martin Abresch. "This one will sting for a while."
The victory gives the Knickerbockers a record of 62-59.
