In a low-scoring tilt between the Brooklyn Bluebirds and the Philadelphia Quakers, Dave Gaultney, who is tied for 2nd in the NBL in wins with 14, was the difference-maker. The Brooklyn left-hander spearheaded the 2-0 win. The third-place Bluebirds now have a record of 62-60.

Greg Landrum, who is tied for 7th in the NBL in hits with 136, took Philadelphia hurler Ralph Weintraub deep in the bottom of the third. His 2-run home run put the Bluebirds on top, 2-0. In all, Landrum had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
