Slumping Northmen Lose Again
|
The Houston Drillers, behind a great outing from Dick Knight, who is tied for 10th in the ABL with a 2.89 ERA, defeated the Twin Cities Northmen, 2-1, at Twin Cities Stadium. Knight, now 11-7, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The losses continue to mount for Twin Cities, which has now dropped 7 in a row.
Houston used a well-timed hit by Lowell Bickle to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Drillers ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"If you chase it, you need to get it," said Houston skipper Tom Harrington.
