|
Jose Rodriguez never let Chicago get something going. The Baltimore right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Lords to a 4-1 win. Denny Boyd came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 9-10. The second-place Lords have a record of 65-56.
Los Angeles, California-born Mike Sheffield came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Lords trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single to right to put Baltimore on top.
"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Rodriguez. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."
