3-1 Win Takes Seagulls to 68-54
|
Mission Field was the site of a tense game between the Dallas Wranglers and San Francisco Seagulls.
The San Francisco Seagulls earned a close win over the Dallas Wranglers, thanks in part to Tim Stambaugh. The San Francisco right-hander, who finished 5th in the ABL in wins with 16 in 1969, played a key role in the 3-1 victory. The winner was Stambaugh. He threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Steve Coomes.
The Seagulls got a big at-bat from second baseman Tom Kendall. For the game, Kendall went 2 for 3 with 2 triples. He scored 2 runs. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 6th triple of the season gave San Francisco a 2-1 lead.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Kendall. "You've got to get results."
The third-place Seagulls lifted their record to 68-54.
