The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.

The Chicago Traders got a magnificent performance from pitcher Bobby Peters, who muffled the Denver offense en route to a tight, 1-0 Traders win at Union Field. Peters got the win, improving to 13-9. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed no runs. Jimmy Calhoun was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 11 save opportunities.

The Traders got a big at-bat from first baseman John Sledd. For the game, Sledd went 1-3 with a home run. In the bottom of the first, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 17th home run of the season gave Chicago a 1-0 lead.

"Very good win for our guys," said Sledd.

After today's action, Chicago sits at 67-59; Denver slips to 54-70.
