Twin Cities center fielder Noland Lockhart had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 8-3, to Seattle at Twin Cities Stadium. Lockhart went 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and 2 walks. The winner was Seattle reliever Bob Valentine, now 3-2. The loser was Bob Cole. With the win over Twin Cities, the Emeralds improved to 54-69.

Seattle used the timely hitting of Dave Thomas to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Emeralds on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"It feels good, just a great win all around," Thomas said after the game.
