With Late Score, Empires Beat Terriers
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the New York Empires and Boston Terriers.
The New York Empires grabbed a win, 6-5, over the Boston Terriers in 11 innings at Queens Field. New York second baseman Lowell Bickle went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The Terriers, now 4-9, continue their sluggish start.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 11th. With two out, Bickle hit a fastball from Tim McGovern for a run-scoring double. The Empires, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"We ground out the win," said Bickle. "That's all that matters."
