Wolverines Prevail, 4-3, Over Twin Cities
The Detroit Wolverines did just enough to sneak past the Twin Cities Northmen, 4-3, at Wolverine Field. Detroit pitcher William Matz, in particular, had a standout performance. Matz picked up the win for Detroit, going 8.2 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 9 hits. He now sports a record of 14-9. The third-place Wolverines have won 4 consecutive games.

The Wolverines got a big at-bat from first baseman Troy Stallings. For the game, Stallings went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Detroit a 4-1 lead.
