Bobcats Squelch Quakers Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Cleveland Bobcats got a magnificent performance from pitcher Rick Tomlinson, who muffled the Philadelphia offense en route to a tight, 3-0 Bobcats win at Quakers Stadium. By defeating Philadelphia, the third-place Bobcats improved to 67-61.
Cleveland used the hitting of Buzz Webster to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Bobcats on top, 2-0. For the game, Webster had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Cleveland manager Daniel Mays.
