Kansas City first baseman Chris Taylor had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Taylor was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3, even as New York beat the Bulls, 8-7. The winner was Tim Fried, who threw 93 pitches over 6.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits. Wayne Houston got the save, his 17th in 23 chances.

New York used a clutch at-bat from Steve Wright to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Knickerbockers ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said New York manager Sean Kelly.

New York is now 62-64. Kansas City is 72-55.
