Empires Get One-Run Win at San Francisco
The New York Empires and San Francisco Seagulls played an entertaining game for Mission Field patrons.

The New York Empires had to overcome a good performance from San Francisco pitcher Jimmy Trent to claim a 3-2 win at Mission Field. Trent went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs. Jack Neenan came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 6-5.

Irv Olson came through with a big-time hit for New York. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

After the game, New York manager Dan Whiting applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.

The triumph puts New York at 73-54 for the season.
