Seagulls Best Lords in Pitching Duel
|
San Francisco Seagulls pitcher Pete Ragsdale was in fine form, leading his team past the Baltimore Lords, 2-0. Ragsdale, now 9-7, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing no runs. Earning his 30th save for San Francisco was Archie Sereni.
San Francisco used the timely hitting of Bob Russell to capture the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Seagulls on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but he made it count.
"Pete made the big pitches when he needed to," said San Francisco manager Al Borie.
With the win, the Seagulls hiked their record to 72-54.
