Bluebirds Earn 6-3 Win Versus Kansas City
|
Kevin Wade, who is tied for 3rd in the NBL in holds with 6, was locked in. The left-hander led the Brooklyn Bluebirds to a 6-3 win against the Kansas City Bulls at Independence Field. Wade, the winner, moves to 8-7. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 2 walks. The win gives Brooklyn a season record of 64-63.
Brooklyn used a clutch at-bat from Jimmy Mara to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Bluebirds ahead, 4-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
Said Brooklyn manager John Meeker: "We squared some balls up."
