Getting a good performance from center fielder Danny Strickland, the Detroit Wolverines defeated the Montreal Habitants, 5-4. Strickland went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Wolverines. Detroit pitcher William Matz got the win, upping his record to 4-5. Al Johns got the loss. The victory gives Detroit a record of 64-62.

Detroit got a clutch hit from Gary Jordan. The pinch hitter launched a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.

"He who laughs last laughs best," Jordan said, postgame.
