Drillers Fall Short, 3-2, at San Francisco
San Francisco Seagulls starter Reggie Wright pitched his team past the Houston Drillers, 3-2. Dave Maughan earned the save for San Francisco, his 1st. The victory makes San Francisco 8-5, as the team seeks a return to the playoffs in 1972.

Bobby Tapia, who is tied for 7th in the ABL in runs scored with 8, helped out the San Francisco cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the right fielder went 2 for 5 with a double.

"Good teams find a way to win close games," Tapia said.
