In a low-scoring tilt between the Baltimore Lords and the Los Angeles Pobladores, John Fredrick, who is tied for 10th in the ABL in complete games with 5, was the difference-maker. The Baltimore right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. The winner was Fredrick. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Rick Beasley. Baltimore raised its record to 70-57 with the win.

Buddy Wharton, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1970 draft, had a direct impact on the outcome. Wharton contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Baltimore up, 3-1.

"Nice, tidy little win," Wharton said after the game.
