Eagles Land Close Win
|
For the home crowd, it was a thrilling walk-off win.
Washington turned a good performance from starting pitcher Ramon Juarez into a 3-2 triumph over the Philadelphia Quakers at Monument Field. Washington reliever Brian Alfieri picked up the win, upping his record to 13-8. Juan Ramirez was saddled with the loss.
Larry Moses was the walk-off hero for Washington. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Eagles third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," Juarez said.
The Quakers have now dropped 9 straight.
