The New York Empires picked up a win at Queens Field, dropping the Twin Cities Northmen, 7-6. Jon Pierce, who is tied for 4th in the ABL with a 2.49 ERA, was the difference-maker. The win boosted New York to 64-63.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when New York pinch hitter Ken Schilling, facing Tommy Lloyd, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Empires the 7-6 win.

"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Schilling told the New York Chronicle.
