Empires Deal Drillers 5-2 Defeat

New York turned a good effort from starter Nate Frampton into a win over the Houston Drillers at Sam Houston Field. The Empires won the game, 5-2. Frampton, now 13-10, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. The win gives New York a season record of 75-54.
With the game tied, 2-2, in the top of the seventh, Frampton had a key at-bat for New York. With the bases loaded, Frampton hit a 2-run single off Randy Robins, making the score 4-2, Empires.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said New York manager Dan Whiting. "It's usually not just one thing."
