Generals Win at Detroit, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Atlanta Generals and the Detroit Wolverines, pitcher Frank Noorani was the difference between victory and defeat. The Atlanta left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Generals win. Renie White closed the door for Atlanta, picking up his 17th save of the year. The 4th-place Generals now have a record of 68-59.
Chris Berman, who finished 5th in the ABL in hits with 166 in 1968, had a direct impact on the outcome. Berman contributed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Atlanta up, 2-0.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie said.
