Knickerbockers Defeat Explorers, 5-4
|
St. Louis got a terrific game from first baseman Tom Adams. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to New York, 5-4, in 10 innings. Adams was 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk. Ollie Hundley recorded his 30th save for New York. At 70-59, New York is in second place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
New York used the timely hitting of Dwayne Lamons to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Knickerbockers on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Our team showed some resilience," said Lamons.
