Morford 3-for-4, Milwaukee Gets 11-4 Victory
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Kansas City Bulls and Milwaukee Dairymen get after it.
The Milwaukee Dairymen trumped the Kansas City Bulls, 11-4, at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium. Milwaukee first baseman Larry Morford was terrific. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The winning pitcher was Randy Adams. He tossed 114 pitches over 9 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits.
Leon Hughes had a big 2-run double for the Dairymen in the bottom of the third inning. With Milwaukee leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 20-year old left-handed pitcher Bret Weingartz and swatted a double to right. It was his 19th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dairymen ahead, 4-0.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Hughes.
Today's win puts Milwaukee at 68-63, while Kansas City falls to 59-73.
