Blockbusters Grind Out 2-1 Win
In a low-scoring contest between the Los Angeles Blockbusters and the Denver Burros, Larry Messenger, the 7th overall pick in the 1963 draft, proved to be the difference. The Los Angeles right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Blockbusters win. Messenger got the win, improving to 8-12. He gave up 7 hits and walked 4 over 9 innings. He allowed 1 run. With the win, the Blockbusters improved to 58-72.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Blockbusters had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when third baseman Mike Herron hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Bruce Cardenas and made the score 2-0, Blockbusters. Herron was 1-3.

"Time to decompress after a tough win," said Herron.
