Quakers Victorious at St. Louis, 6-3
|
The Quakers grabbed a win, 6-3, at Corps of Discovery Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from St. Louis pitcher Bob Trout. Trout went 7 innings and allowed 4 runs. Philadelphia starter Tom Sama was credited with the win after throwing 102 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 3-5. The victory puts Philadelphia at 50-79.
The Quakers used some clutch hitting to beat the Explorers, a good example being the at-bat of Tom Sama in the top of the seventh. With two down, Sama gave his team the lead, 4-2, when he hit a 2-run single.
"It was a good team win. Everybody threw something in," Sama told the Philadelphia Herald.
