Baltimore Slaps 4-2 Loss on Detroit
|
The Baltimore Lords topped the Detroit Wolverines, 4-2, in American Baseball League action at Seton Hill Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Baltimore pitcher and Plymouth, Connecticut, native Dan Valenti. Valenti got the win, improving to 12-3. He gave up 7 hits and walked 1 over 9 innings. He allowed 2 runs. With the win, Baltimore upped its record to 72-59.
Tim McNeely had a big 2-run double for the Lords in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Baltimore leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a slider from Jim Bryant, who finished 5th in the ABL in wins with 16 in 1969, and swatted a double to left. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Lords ahead, 3-0.
McNeely attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
