Industrials Earn Win with Late Rally
|
Pittsburgh right-hander Jim Branam helped his team edge Brooklyn by the score of 1-0. Branam kept the opposing lineup in check. Bill Hoel notched his 10th save in 14 chances. With the win, Pittsburgh raised its record to 74-58.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the top of the eighth inning. That's when pinch hitter Earl Yates hit a triple. The Industrials went on to win.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker said.
