New York picked up a win at Queens Field, bumping off the Toronto Hurons, 4-1. Pitcher Larry Stanford was a major reason the Empires emerged victorious. Tom Duncan was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 5 of 9 save opportunities. The triumph puts New York at 73-58 for the season.

Tom Glenn had a big solo home run for the Empires in the bottom of the fourth inning. With New York leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a slider from former first round draft pick Joe Scott and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Empires on top, 2-0.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Glenn.
