The Detroit Wolverines withstood an impressive performance by Boston third baseman Zach Hodge to defeat the Terriers, 7-2, at Atlantic Avenue Grounds. Hodge hit 2 home runs. Juan Rodriguez was the winner. He's now 10-11. The loser was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Ken Torkelson. Boston has now lost 5 in a row.
In the top of the third inning of a 0-0 tie, Detroit catcher Bob Gilley reached on an error by the SS, driving in 2 runs. It broke the deadlock and put Detroit on top, 2-0.
Gilley called the win "a team effort."
