Eagles Deal Bobcats 6-4 Loss
|
With second baseman Ed Cook leading the charge, the Washington Eagles defeated the Cleveland Bobcats, 6-4, at Lakefront Stadium. Cook, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1961 draft, was 3-4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Washington is now 58-75, Cleveland 87-46.
Washington used a well-timed hit by Larry Wools to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Eagles ahead, 5-2. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Cook told a Washington Herald reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
